A truck hauling lab test monkeys from Tulane University flipped on Interstate 59 in Mississippi, sending cages flying and primates sprinting into the woods.
Officials say the monkeys were being used for virus research including Hepatitis C, Herpes, and COVID. Now at least one is still missing, and locals were warned not to approach under any circumstances.
Heavily armed officers swarmed the highway as several were shot and euthanized on the spot. Witnesses described monkeys “crawling through the grass… looking dazed.”
They’re calling it “a real-life Outbreak scene.” If these monkeys were carrying viral diseases… what the hell just got released into the wild?
