A Milestone in Australia
On October 25, 2025, Jelly Roll landed in Australia to headline the Strummingbird Festival in Queensland. This marked his first major Australian tour stop.
He called the moment “really, really cool… I’m grateful to be here.”
Meeting the “World’s Happiest Animal”
During his visit, Jelly Roll met several native animals, including a koala, a wombat and a baby quokka.
He already had a quokka tattoo on his arm — he chose the quokka because he wanted a symbol of constant happiness.
Naming ‘Loretta’ the Quokka
At the encounter, Jelly Roll was given the honour of naming the baby quokka.
He FaceTimed his wife, Bunnie XO, who suggested a “something country” name. Together they chose “Loretta,” in tribute to country icon Loretta Lynn.
Then he played a few bars of Lynn’s classic “Coal Miner’s Daughter” for the little quokka.
A Moment of Joy & Purpose
Holding the quokka, Jelly Roll exclaimed: “I am fixin’ to faint. This might be the greatest day of my whole life.”
He also spoke of rescuing quokkas or sponsoring them: “We’ll start sponsoring them… I’ll buy Loretta right now.”
Why It Mattered
The trip marked both a career highlight and a personal moment for Jelly Roll. He said, “I never thought I’d be allowed into Australia.”
He described Australia as feeling like home – from the fans’ energy to the conversations.
