Shooter’s Mother Lawyered Up Amid Minneapolis School Massacre Fallout

Minneapolis, MN — The mother of Robin Westman, the 23-year-old responsible for the tragic shooting at Annunciation Church School, has now retained high-profile defense attorney Ryan Garry. Garry is best known for representing George Floyd protesters during tense courtroom battles.

In an interview with Fox News, Garry revealed that Mary Grace Westman is “completely distraught” and emphasized that she has no culpability in her child’s actions. “She needed legal help to navigate the fallout,” Garry said, noting that the emotional and legal weight of the tragedy has overwhelmed her.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that investigators have conducted dozens of interviews with family members, friends, and former associates, but have yet to speak directly with Mary Grace. She once worked at Annunciation Church School, the same institution her child — Robin, formerly Robert — graduated from in 2017 before later transitioning.

The investigation remains ongoing as Minneapolis continues to grapple with the devastating loss of two children and the injuries of many more. The involvement of a seasoned attorney signals the growing intensity of legal and public scrutiny surrounding the case.
